New Tradition Homes has now been selected by the EPA for their 2020 ENERGY STAR® Sustained Excellence Award. This is the local homebuilder’s fifth national ENERGY STAR award and the second year they have received the highest designation of Sustained Excellence.

While the Partner of the Year Award is the highest level of ENERGY STAR certification the EPA can give a homebuilder for meeting certain green building, energy savings, and leadership requirements, the Sustained Excellence Award is a higher achievement for an organization to receive from the EPA since it is an award given at the discretion of the EPA and not through an application process.   It’s a recognition reserved for organizations who not only meet their yearly requirements for ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year, but for those that go above and beyond the criteria needed to qualify for certification.

“I salute the 2020 ENERGY STAR award winners,” said Anne Idsal, EPA Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. “These leaders demonstrate how energy efficiency drives economic competitiveness in tandem with environmental protection.”

ENERGY STAR® is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency, providing simple, credible, and unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions.

Winners of the Sustained Excellence Award range from small, family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 organizations—representing energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial, and public sectors. “We are very honored by five straight years of national recognition with ENERGY STAR,” said New Tradition Homes Vice President Kelly Helmes. “Energy efficiency is at the top of our homebuyers’ list of expectations. And it is our desire to continue to build homes that will enhance and improve their lives. Our team remains on the cutting edge of design and green building solutions and takes every step possible to offer its homebuyers the best home, along with lower monthly utility costs and higher resale value.”

New Tradition Homes was founded in 1987 and has been a regional leader in green building practices and energy-efficient construction technology since 2005. All New Tradition homes are certified ENERGY STAR® and Built Green WA®.

“With the assistance of ENERGY STAR and other programs, we are continually improving the design, comfort, durability and lasting value of our homes,” said Helmes.
