Crawl spaces aren’t sexy, but they are important.

All things water is a major concern for a builder. Especially in the crawl space.

I drive a lot. When I drive I listen to the radio.  A day does not go by when I hear advertisements for fixing crawl spaces. The companies advertising are very aggressive in pitching nice clean crawl spaces that drain well. They don’t tell you how much it costs to do the fixes. They save that for when they visit your home. I’ve heard they range between $6000 and $30,000.

I find it odd that there are very successful businesses fixing crawl spaces.

In my mind, if you build it right the first time you won’t have high expenses later. Building it right takes a little bit more thought and money upfront (we spend about $1500). We view it as a great investment.

My first 10 years of building I learned a lot and paid plenty of dumb taxes (learning the hard way by making mistakes). We were not consistent in how we built crawl spaces. We would have many crawl spaces that functioned well and some that wouldn’t.  Those that didn’t required us to fix them after people moved into their homes.  Not fun!!

We have developed a terrific system for building crawl spaces.

Next article I will go into detail on what we do to have great crawl spaces.

Our Model Home (7909 NE 78th Street—across from Crossroads Church) is open Fridays-Mondays from 10aa-4pm.

We hold one of our Quail Cottages at Quail Grove open on Sundays from 12-4pm.

If you are thinking about downsizing…. Consider Quail…. you’ve earned it!!

I hope this helps and thank you for reading the newspaper.
