Tomorrow, Jupiter and Saturn will have their closest encounter since the year 1623, and we hope to see it in the southern evening sky—a Christmas Star! Likewise, 2021 could become the Great Conjunction of a different sort: the moment when great interest rates and the end of the Covid pandemic combine to create a real estate market even better than this years’.

The real estate market in 2020 has been held back only by a lack of sellers. Once we are able to leave the house and get started on plans delayed by the pandemic, 2021 could see these sellers enter the market to meet the steadily-high demand we’ve seen throughout the crisis. Now, instead of disappointed buyers missing out due to competing offers, there may be a higher percentage of buyers able to get an offer accepted and get into their dream home.

In addition to a strong sales market, we expect refinancing to continue to be brisk as many borrowers decide whether to stay put and take advantage of incredibly low interest rates or to upsize or downsize.
