How long have you worked in Real Estate?
I started my real estate career in 2006. I opened a brokerage, Columbia River Realty, in Washougal in the fall of 2013. We have five children so in order to manage my time with them as they were growing I stayed busy with several home businesses and engaged in a lot of volunteer work with the local schools and 4-H program. When the youngest two entered high school I started to think about what I wanted to do with my time as the children left home. I am happiest when I am busy and I love helping others so real estate was a great fit.

What is your specialty?
I work primarily in residential real estate serving buyers and sellers. I list many homes on acreage, likely because we live on a small farm east of Washougal, so I understand acreage well. While we serve all of SW Washington, I believe in working close to home. I am an expert in east Clark and west Skamania counties. I love negotiating a successful transaction for all of my clients.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
Be sure to have a professional REALTORĀ® assisting you to look out for your interests and guide you through the process. A good agent will help to minimize the stress and help you to negotiate the best price and terms.

What is the most unique property you’ve listed or sold?
I listed a Christmas tree farm across the road from where we live. That was unique in that, not only was it a beautiful cedar home on 17 acres, but also a working tree farm. It was a great experience.

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
I love helping others to achieve and grow. I totally enjoy assisting my agents in growing their businesses and growing personally. The agents are not only outstanding in customer service but outstanding people with high standards. I love satisfied clients. One of my first transactions I received a hug from the seller, he was so happy with the transaction, I was hooked.

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
I believe we will continue to have a shortage of homes on the market for the next four years. Prices are expected to rise this year in our area and then level off some. I believe home ownership is still the most significant investment you can make.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
Family has always been number one. I am the mother of five grown children who have growing families of their own. I love spending time with my children, my grandchildren and sisters. I am an avid reader and swim several times each week. My husband retired last year from the Georgia Pacific paper mill in Camas, allowing us time to travel. We just spent 10 days with my sister and her husband in Mexico. It was so relaxing.

What do you like about living in this area?
I moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1975 from Colorado. My husband’s family homesteaded here in the 1800’s. We still farm part of the original homestead. I love the beauty and the friendly people in the Northwest. Every time I travel east up the gorge I am awed again by the incredible views. We are fortunate to have so much recreation and diverse countryside in our state.

Anything else you would like our readers to know about you and your company?
In 2013, I opened Columbia River Realty with a team of seven great agents. We felt there was a need for a professional real estate group to serve east county residents. We recently have grown to a team of 17. We are a client focused brokerage bringing outstanding service and care to all of our clients. I am very fortunate to have a great group of people to work with. We look forward to helping YOU with all of your real estate needs.
