How long have you worked in Real Estate?
Just over 7 years. When people were leaving the industry, I entered. I knew my business would be everlasting if, during the market down turn, I could grow my business and implement effective systems…and that is what I have done.

What is your specialty?
I love the variety of clients I work with: buyers, sellers, first time or not. In my previous life, I worked with seniors and their families and have my Senior Real Estate Specialist designation. Helping seniors and their families identify options to stay safely where they currently live, or move, and the processes involved with their choice, is one of my passions.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
The experience is exciting, stressful, full of surprises and emotional. Therefore, interview RealtorsĀ® until you find the expert you trust and are comfortable working with.

What is the most unique property you’ve listed or sold?
I worked with Fort Vancouver National Trust to sell a home they took in exchange for a Charitable Gift Annuity. This allowed the homeowner to move into a retirement facility, avoiding the burdensome process of staying and showing the property.

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
Helping clients understand my role as a consultant can be a bit challenging, however, being their consultant and helping them achieve their objectives is the most rewarding experience.

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
We have not yet settled back into a “normal” or more predictable market in the real estate industry. It is currently a seller’s market which means inventory is low. Often in a sellers’ market homes sell fast and buyers need to make quick decisions. I have noticed, and a number of my colleagues have also stated, buyers currently are not as quick to buy. They are taking their time to make a decision or waiting for more inventory. Therefore, sellers that need/want to sell quickly are feeling a need to reduce prices. Every neighborhood and area of town has their own market so a seller reducing their price to sell may or may not affect that neighborhood’s value. At the same time, if a seller is uncertain they will find a home they want to buy, regardless of their desire to move, they may choose to stay and not list their house…which continues to keep our inventory low.

What do you like about living in this area?
I love being close to the mountain, gorge, and ocean, not to mention the beauty of them all. The fact we have no hurricanes or substantial tornadoes and only occasional mountain eruptions and earthquakes is a big bonus!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
Family, friends and working in my garden rejuvenate me. Anytime I can volunteer with my kids’ activities or in the community I do. I strongly believe we all can and should give back to our community…many hands make light work and a better place to live!
