How long have you worked in Real Estate?
Since 1997.

What is your specialty?
Having grown up with a builder family, I have a long history with both lots/land as well as new and older homes.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
When pricing your home, do your best to realistically price it based on a valuation provided by a realtor. A common misconception is that if you try for a higher value, then you’ll likely get that value. However, in most cases the home just sits and you’re forced to reduce the price. An accurately priced home will result in better offers on the home and convey the right value to buyers.

What is the most unique property you’ve listed or sold?
I represented a buyer/seller who renovated a 1930 bungalow in the Arnada neighborhood. It was a great experience as I was able to help with design ideas, and as we watched the home improve, the neighborhood improved as well. I got a front row seat watching the home transform from the initial purchase through the renovations, and finally to the resale.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in real estate?
This wasn’t too long ago actually. I showed an acreage property that had a bull on site that was taller than a car. Not something you see everyday! Thankfully for us, it was as nice as a golden retriever and followed us around as we continued to walk the property.

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
Helping someone make the biggest investment of their lives and helping them find a home where they will become part of that community, growing their family. Buying a home can be a stressful experience; our goal is to remove that stress and provide a level of service that makes it an enjoyable process.

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
Inventory is low right now, so prices will start to increase. Interest rates are also expected to increase towards the end of this year, with heavy increases in 2016. If you’re looking to buy, the best time would be before the next school year starts.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
I chair government affairs with the local realtor association. My family and I enjoy weekend adventures, playing sports and fishing.

What do you like about living in this area?
Clark County is large, but on the same hand it’s small. It has a community feel that doesn’t have the traffic of Portland, but we get to take advantage of the urban settings. We’re within two hours of the ocean, the mountains, rivers and lakes.

Anything else you would like our readers to know about you and your company?
We take a team approach, so everyone is focused on listings and assisting buyers. We have support staff focused directly on marketing and efficiency of the team, so each agent has their full attention on their client and are not distracted by wearing `multiple hats.’ In this way we are able to provide a higher level of service to our clients.
