How long have you worked in Real Estate?
I have been in the real estate industry my entire adult life. It all started 16 years ago when I got my real estate license, then my love for real estate grew into a construction company I built with my husband.
What is your specialty?
This past year has brought me a desire to focus on educating not only my personal clients, but anyone who wants to learn by volunteering my time to teach home buyer and home seller classes.
What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
Find someone who really cares about your needs because they’ll be committed to help you work through the issues that arise with a problem solving mentality to help bring more clarity and take a step back to figure out a solution together.
What is the most unique property you’ve listed or sold?
A large acreage in a very rural area outside of Washougal. It had a newer home, pond, stream, old chalet hunting cabin and trails. This property really was that private piece of paradise that so many people are looking for. The view out of the front of the house felt like you were at the top of a mountain overlooking a deep valley across the landscape.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in Real Estate?
When my client bought her first home in the Midwest, they walked in on someone sleeping in bed and it freaked her out! She mentioned it while we were house hunting and so I was announcing us loudly as we entered each house. Low and behold, we walked into the living room after announcing very loudly at the front door, there was a mound of blankets that looked like a pile of laundry on the couch. Needless to say it scared us both when we realized it was moving and there was someone curled up sleeping with headphones on under that pile!
What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
The challenges facing buyers and sellers right now are stressful on both parties. Buyers are getting outbid for homes and frustrated because the can’t find something, and sellers are frustrated because they can sell at a good price for their home, but then struggle to find something to replace the home so many are deciding to stay put. I find it gratifying when I can work with my fellow agents to help us all get to a successful closing.
What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
I expect to see demand remain strong for the next couple years. It’s hard to know how rising interest rates and still climbing house prices will impact our market as time goes on, but it doesn’t seem to be slowing buyers down for the time being.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
Full time in real estate does not give me much free time since I always want to be available when my clients need me, but when I do get some free time I enjoy taking photographs, painting with acrylics (I’m just starting to try watercolors as well), and cooking at home. I love hanging out with my husband of almost 12 years and our 3 children ,and Cece our rescued 5 yr old pitt bull, hiking, spending time at the coast, having family come stay with us.
What do you like about living in this area?
I love that the climate is mild, I grew up in Minnesota and Wisconsin so the sub-zero temps, terrible snow, and ice were enough to make us want to relocate! We love seeing mountains as we drive around our beautiful community and that there are so many things to do outdoors within such a short distance.
Anything else you would like our readers to know about you and your company?
At the beginning of this year I started mentoring and training new agents that join our office. I have loved this new opportunity because I feel it is very important to make sure every client gets expertly guided service from an agent that has been through very thorough training. What I love about Front Door Realty, we are committed to giving the best experience and service we can to all of our clients. For us it is about building a long term relationship by bringing value to our clients and to our community. We are able to give back to our community in many ways i.e., sponsoring pet adoptions, helping our homeless with resources, and supporting our fellow local small businesses.
