How long have you worked in Real Estate?
I have worked as a licensed real estate agent since 2008. Prior to 2008, I did some real estate investing and renovations on old homes. Since 2010, my business has focused mostly on new construction.

What is your specialty?
The majority of my work in the last 5 years is with new construction, working with JB Homes. I love new construction in particular because of the process of watching the house go from an idea, to a dream, and to a reality. I get to work with the buyers to get creative and make their home exactly what they want. In addition to new construction I work with buyers and sellers outside of my new construction subdivisions as well. I particularly enjoy working with people buying their first home. The excitement that the purchase of a first home brings is never duplicated!

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
Get your ducks in a row. If you’re buying, know what you are preapproved for, but also know what you are comfortable spending. When selling, be prepared. Get the house ready, get emotionally ready. Buying and selling a home is an emotional and personal decision. One that can get very exciting and very stressful. Don’t let emotions and excitement discolor a good business decision. The key however is to have FUN in the process!

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
The most gratifying is knowing that I am helping people make one of the best financial decisions they can make. They aren’t just buying a house, it’s a home they are going to raise kids in, celebrate occasions, grow old in; ultimately it’s a place to create memories. Each transaction has its own set of challenges, trying to prevent them is key, and rolling with it once they arise is the best way to get through it.

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
Currently steady growth appears to be in our future. With so many people moving to the NW and supply being low, we can only see growth in the near future. Prices continue to climb which is why those that don’t own home really need to think about finding a way into home ownership sooner than later. Real Estate, regardless of what the past 10 years has shown, is still a great place to invest money, and we all need a roof over our heads!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
Love the outdoors, at least in the summer, swimming, hiking and kayaking. In the winter, indoor crafting, decorating and sewing. Travel is the thing that grounds me, makes me realize how great we have it here at home. Going to spend time biking in Hawaii this winter. I’m not sure if I always enjoy it, but I’m training for my first duathlon in April!

What do you like about living in this area?
General livability, no extreme weather, and cost of living is the cheapest of any major city on the west coast. I am not a lover of the rain, so the winters are tough. The summers are fabulous so I guess that’s what makes the rain worth it.
