How long have you worked in Real Estate?
I have been in the real estate industry helping people since I was ten. My mother was a REALTOR® and I learned the business as a second nature, so I tell my clients I have been in the business for 37 years. However, I have been actively licensed since 2004. My mother tells the story of an elderly man who had some last minute stress in releasing the key to his home upon signing at escrow. I looked at him, put my hand on his shoulder, and whispered into his ear, “Will you give it to me?” and he did! That is the day my career began 37 years ago.

What is your specialty?
I am experienced in many facets of real estate: residential, commercial and investment properties. I enjoy increasing my clients’ net worth by finding the perfect investment or step up properties. But helping people find their HOME is where I find the most satisfaction. I do everything I can to make the journey of finding a home one of satisfaction and minimal stress. I love negotiating a win/win transaction. I never realized how competitive I was until working in real estate. I love negotiating the best terms for my clients which is not always price. I enjoy working with clients who need to sell and then buy a home. Coordinating those terms takes experience and can be tricky. I like to help move the two transactions to the smoothest close possible.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
I actually have two tips… Find the most practiced and caring REALTOR® for your target area, and second, find an experienced and trusted Mortgage Broker. Your REALTOR® can assist you in that search!

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
Some people think a REALTOR® shows pretty homes and then hands the key to the people purchasing property after the close of escrow. The mark of being the most competent REALTOR® has to do with solving problems. The process of selling or buying property is complex. The more experienced a REALTOR® has with the industry and all the quirks that come up with the process, the more assured the client’s success will be.

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
I see the market in cycles. I think we have just come through a down turn in the market where we hit a bottom characterized by the prices and inventory leveled off with prices low. We are starting to see a recovery of the market prices and inventory. Sellers who did not have any profits in the down market are starting to see and trust that the recovery can help them make a move. This opens up the opportunities for both buyers and sellers that we did not see in a downturn market where we had a high number of short sale homes on the market.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
Real estate is a full time commitment meaning nights, weekends and all day too. Time with my family and friends helps me to stay strong when the market is very busy. I love challenges and chose 2014 to be my year to challenge myself. I did 13 races (walking mostly, but I did it!): Shamrock Run, Susan G Koman Breast Cancer Race with my daughter, Disney Princess Race, Blooms to Brew, Turkey Trot, just to name a few. I love watching baseball. My son and I have made it a tradition to attend the Mariners Opening day together. My family loves water and boating and of course fishing, but, our new passion has become kayaking. My church, Starting Grounds Church in Battle Ground, WA, is the center of much of our life and social life. I recently found the perfect home for our new pastor, and that was a complete joy for me.

What do you like about living in this area?
I love that within a few hours you can be at the beloved beach with the wind in your hair or head east and find mountain snow or the high desert. I love the diversity of the area and the ability to explore and enjoy the nature. I love the water so the fact that we have so many lakes and streams is very appealing to me. I also enjoy the city life and downtown Vancouver has a lot of fun nightlife and restaurants.

Anything else you would like our readers to know about you and your company?
As you can imagine, I have worked at a handful of companies during my lengthy Real Estate career. I can honestly say I am as content as I have ever been working for Premiere Property Group, at the Battle Ground branch.
