How long have you worked in Real Estate?
Too long, according to my wife. I have been getting my hands dirty in real estate for over 17 years and the last two have been as a Realtor®. I am fortunate to have a diverse background in real estate as I have built multiple spec homes, managed a real estate investment pool, and even commuted to Phoenix, AZ to fix and flip bank-owned homes.

What is your specialty?
I specialize in selling homes in the Clark County area and I have a great deal of experience in new construction and getting older homes spruced up and ready to sell, as a result I tend to focus in that area. Also, my network of connections generates a lot of out-of-state relocation buyers who I get to introduce to the Pacific Northwest.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
For buyers I tell them the three most important things in real estate are: location, location and location. You sleep in your house but you live in your community. Don’t focus just on the new granite in the kitchen but where the home is located in regards to your lifestyle. For sellers I would say be willing to put a little money or time into your home to get it ready to sell and listen to your Realtor®.

What is the most unique property you’ve listed or sold?
The most interesting property I have sold would have to be a 9,400 Sq. Ft. estate overlooking the Columbia River Gorge that was rumored to be owned by Mel Gibson. It was truly an amazing house.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in real estate?
Back when I was commuting to Phoenix I toured a house with side-by-side toilets, you could literally hold hands. I guess someone got tired of the husband not putting the toilet seat down and got him is own.

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
The most challenging part of what I do is insuring that my clients have a successful transaction. I treat every deal as if I was the one buying or selling the property. The gratifying aspect of what I do is the wonderful people I get to meet and the new friends I get to make.

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
There is no doubt that 2016 will be the best real estate market we have seen in over ten years. The Vancouver-area real estate market is up over 11% annually according to Zillow and the Clark County inventory of homes for sale in March was at a low of 1.7 months of inventory. To give you a reference, that same time period we were at 2.6 months in 2015 and 4.6 months in 2014. History has shown that real estate goes in cycles of about 7 years so I think we still have another 2-3 years of upward price movement, but remember history is never a reliable indicator. If you need to sell your home, you should do it now.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
Before I became a Realtor® I enjoyed spending time with my family. I say that because I am a workaholic and this is a 24/7 job and I am never not working. However, because I love my wife and kids I make time, especially since we are coming up on our 19[th] wedding anniversary. As a family we enjoy skiing, surfing, rock climbing and taking the boat out on the lake. I also enjoy watching my son and daughter play soccer.

What do you like about living in this area?
The Pacific Northwest has always been my home and is a playground for outdoor lovers like me. You can get in your car and in ten minutes you can be hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and in another hour or so you can be at the mountain skiing or at the ocean catching a wave.

Anything else you would like our readers to know about you and your company?
The reason I have been so successful as a Realtor® is that I surround myself with the best in the business. My partner, Jodie Sharp, at Sharp Eversaul Properties has over 30 years of combined real estate and land use planning experience. Together we offer an amazing team to help our clients. I also learned a great deal while working with my friend, Patrick Ginn, who is a very successful Realtor® and developer in the area, and I have a great group of experienced brokers here at Hasson Company Realtors.
