How long have you worked in Real Estate?
12 years and counting!

What is your specialty?
Single Family Homes, Foreclosures, First-Time Home Buyers & Luxury Homes

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
In this competitive market, it’s easy to get discouraged if the offer you write doesn’t get accepted because of a “multiple offer” situation. It’s important to keep your eyes on the prize and believe there is a better home out there for you. The right one will fall into your lap when you least expect it.

What is the most unique property you’ve listed or sold?
The Columbian actually did a story on this in January 2015. My clients’ rental home had burned down while they lived there. With their “never quit” desire to make their dream become reality, we found a property that allowed them to make a dilapidated farmhouse into their dream home using natural building practices and recycled materials. The walls are filled with a straw-clay mixture and coated in a thick earthen plaster. The backsplash in the kitchen is made with tile and scrap wood. Shelving that hangs from the kitchen ceiling was made with cabinet shelves from the original house. Then they had a house warming party and their wedding on the seven acre farm!

What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in real estate?
I feel that almost everything I have been involved with, to this point in my career, would be considered normal. However, I must say that the most recent case with appraisal time frames can be a bit stressful. Home sales are sometimes taking 60 days or more to close because of the shortage of Appraisers in our area. Realtors® are put in a no-win situation when having to explain these delays. Hopefully, everyone can understand that this period is only temporary and we expect timelines to closing will be back to normal.

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
The day you hand a First-Time Home Buyer the keys to their new home is easily the biggest thrill for me! All the hard work we put in, day – in day-out, is rewarded. Everyone my Team works with is so grateful and appreciative of their experience. We can’t wait for the next!

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
We are fortunate enough to live in the Great Northwest! People are moving here from all over the country. They see the landscaping, culture, and opportunities here that help this location thrive! When you have that draw, as we do, it’s only going to increase property values over time.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
I love to workout and play basketball at my local gym! I can’t run like I used too, but enjoy every minute of it. Those that know me know I’m a major football junky! College (Go Ducks) & Pro (Go Niners). I plan a White Water Rafting trip in Maupin, Oregon every Summer. We have done this for over 10 years now! We go for two days and get over 50 people participating each year! I love to travel with my wife and family, play with my cat, Peps, and tackle house projects! I also enjoy volunteering for my alma mater, Hudson’s Bay HS, helping with fundraising opportunities and helping with their sporting events.

What do you like about living in this area?
The People! Nothing like the Northwest out there. I’ve lived here 39 years and don’t see myself leaving it. People here are so friendly and so polite. Whether it’s assisting someone in need or just volunteering their time, it’s a true sense of Community here. That’s why so many people are interested in calling this home!
