How long have you worked in Real Estate?
I am fairly new to real estate. It has been under a year since I have been in real estate, but my grandmother was a very successful real estate broker in the Portland Metro area for 40 years, so I like to think it runs in my blood. I remember as a young child going on showings with her. She was so good at it and a great role model. I joined Keller Williams because of the amazing training programs they have for new agents as well as all the continued training to stay up to date and that is so important to be able to help my clients. I first got licensed in Oregon where I grew up, then I was licensed in Washington where I have lived for the past 12 years with my husband Paul, his grown daughters Katie and Sarah, and our 4 children, Isabella 17, Lucas 10, Levi 8, and Guinevere 5.

What is your specialty?
My specialty is residential. Working with buyers, sellers and investors. I really enjoy working with people. Moving can be a very stressful time, so I work hard to take some of that burden and do all I can to make the process go as smoothly as possible.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?
Get a good agent that has training and experience to help you. There is a lot we do behind the scenes, so having someone with experience and guidance that sincerely has your best interest in mind is ideal.

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?
The most gratifying aspect of being a broker is helping people that really need me and where I can really make a difference. I am a mother, so I am a natural caregiver and I get great satisfaction in helping others and have pride in my work ethics. That is one reason why I chose to be licensed in Oregon and Washington. I wanted to be able to help people in both states. I grew up in Portland Oregon and moved to Battle Ground, WA in 2005 when I married my husband Paul. I have a lot of family and friends still living in Oregon, so I am there often. I know the area really well and I really love where we live.

What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?
Funny thing about the Market is you never really know what is going to happen, and it is constantly changing, but everyone has an opinion. I have a hunch that prices will get a little bit lower for a while, but not drop that much. The pacific Northwest is very popular and so many people are moving here every day, so it looks like the long term trend, prices will continue to rise. We are usually the area last in the nation to get affected by the changes in the real estate market, so if we keep up what is happening nationally, it can give us some type of idea of where we are heading.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Hobbies, volunteering, family, fun?
When I am not working I am enjoying time with my family and friends. We have a pretty active household. I have been fortunate to have the privilege to be a stay at home mom for 12 years before being a real estate broker. My youngest just started full day school this year so I was eager to get back to work and spread my wings. I love to bake, cook, do crafts, decorate and my kids love to help me. Our family has done a lot of traveling and we are always planning a new trip to a new place or a old favorite to gain experience and learn about other cultures. I really enjoy decorating and having fun projects like the dollhouse I made for my children and our kitchen table I made, learning all about woodworking, or the gate at the bottom of our stairs made from old barn wood. I don’t let not knowing how to do something ever stop me. I just learn how to do it, which isn’t easy, but it sure feels good to accomplish it.

What do you like about living in this area?
I appreciate the Pacific Northwest so much! It really is so beautiful and green here. I know we get a lot of rain, but rain sure does make a lot of pretty greenery to look at. I look forward to every season, and going through it makes me really look forward to the next one. We are so lucky to have ocean beaches and the mountains just a quick day trip away. I love all the great breweries and wineries and amazing trendy restaurants to try too, since I am a total foodie. Then there is all the big beautiful old houses. I love houses, all the character and beauty and craftsmanship. We have a beautiful place to call home.
